April 2nd, 2014 was a significant date for us: it was on that day that Royal Ahrend became involved in the Laura Project.
Through the efforts of designer Bas Pruyser, we received an invitation from Royal Ahrend. We were to give a short presentation to the CEO and the Marketing & Design Director explaining why we thought their company could help us by producing the Laura Chair.
The presentation was a success and Ahrend immediately decided to produce a prototype. After several tense weeks of waiting, the moment of truth arrived: the presentation of the Laura Chair.
It was emotional, beautiful and so reminiscent of Laura to see her chair in reality. We were lost for words when CEO Eugène Sterken thanked us for allowing Ahrend this opportunity. What happened next was even more moving: Ahrend had decided to adopt the Laura Chair as one of its projects.
Can the chair be taken into production? Many questions still have to be answered.
Our wish is that a portion of the revenues from the sale of the Laura Chair goes directly to the Project Laura Foundation to help us achieve our goal. Until the chair goes into production you are very welcome to make a donation.
